We launch our first internet portal, chemie.de, as a research project at Freie Universität Berlin. We want professionals in chemistry to find specialist information faster and easier.

Claus Schröter, Thomas Richter, Hans Benedict and Stefan Knecht set up the CHEMIE.DE Information Service GmbH in Berlin. Our mission is to revolutionize the search for information in chemistry and the related natural sciences. While the dot-com bubble is bursting around us, we enter into a successful future.

To provide the emerging biotechnology sector and life science industry with day-to-day specialist information, we launch bionity.com.

Together with the leading international trade fair analytica we launch the international portal analytica-world.com. We want it to deliver news from the industry to users in lab technology, analytics and biotechnology, 24/7 the whole year round – an ideal addition to the periodic analytica trade fairs.

The success of chemie.de and bionity.com inspires us. We set up chemeurope.com as an international information resource for the chemical industry and its suppliers.

We launch quimica.es to ensure that Spanish-speaking professionals won’t miss out on up-to-date information in chemistry. It quickly develops into the leading portal in Latin America and Spain.

To further expand, we relocate within Berlin to premises at Mediaspree – an ideal environment for our growth ambitions.

After 14 years, it’s time to completely redesign the portal technology we’d advanced step-by-step. We develop a new technical framework for our portals, give them a completely new design and many new features for our users.

Together with Mettler-Toledo, we launch q-more.com. We attract internationally renowned authors who report on current research topics in an easy-to-read style – all to improve the flow of know-how between research and industry.

We take over yumda, the B2B portal for the food and beverage industry. For the first time, we expand our portfolio to B2B markets outside the natural sciences. At the same time, we gain a dedicated team at our new location in Nuremberg.

CHEMIE.DE Information Service GmbH becomes LUMITOS GmbH. LUMITOS – that’s far more than just a new name. LUMITOS is a new company with a set-up that’s unique in the industry. We leverage our industry knowledge, our marketing know-how and the specialist portals we run to bear a completely new range of services. We use these to lead B2B companies and their staff to success.

LUMITOS changes its legal form and is now registered as a stock corporation (AG) in the commercial register.

Our portals becoming bigger. With Start-ups in the Spotlight, we focus on start-ups from the Chemistry & Laboratory, Life Science & Pharmaceutical and Food & Beverage Industries.

When employees work creatively, project-related and on their own responsibility, it makes sense for rigid spatial structures to dissolve. At the beginning of the year, LUMITOS AG moved into its new premises in the science city of Adlershof and implemented its our concept of activity-based workplaces.

LUMITOS AG is setting an example against the challenging background of the current Corona events with new digital formats including an exhibition, premiere show and lecture programme. With the online trade fairs: virtual lab show, virtual process show and analytica virtual, LUMITOS AG offers a new digital meeting platform for the Chemistry & Laboratory, Life Science & Pharmaceutical and Food & Beverage Industries.
